Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Danish Movie Poster (measures 25 1/4" x 36") (Learn More) Once to Every Woman, the 1920 Allen Holubar silent romantic melodrama (a great forgotten silent movie, about a small town girl who has a wonderful singing voice; she is discovered by a rich woman who sends her to Europe where she studies, but the rich woman passes away and she is aided by a man in love with her, and with his help she becomes an opera star, but she doesn't love him, and when he realizes that, he shoots her from the balcony on the opening night of the opera, and then kills himself; she recovers, but loses her voice, and everyone deserts her; she returns home to her small town, and reunites with her childhood sweetheart; over time she gets her voice back, but she realizes that the love of a good man is more important than being the star, and that true love comes "once to every woman"!) starring Dorothy Phillips, William Ellingford, Margaret Mann, Emily Chichester, and Elinor Field. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: very good. The poster had a slightly diagonal top fold. There is visible restoration at the top crossfold. There is a censor stamp in the white background area at the left of the bottom fold. There is some restoration in the blank borders.. Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed.
