COLUMBIA PICTURES ('32 stock) 1sh '32

Lease from Hershenson/Allen Archive

An Original Vintage One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh) (Learn More)

Columbia Pictures, the circa 1932 stock poster ("It is our privilege and pleasure to announce to our patrons that this theatre during the coming months will show the matchless photoplays and bright stars of Columbia Pictures. Watch for these outstanding gems of screen entertainment!") featuring the art of Columbia studio stars such as: Barbara Stanwyck, Jack Holt, Evelyn Brent, Richard Cromwell, Jean Harlow, Constance Cummings, Ralph Graves, Noah Beery Sr., John Wayne, Loretta Sayers, Frank Capra, Charles Bickford, Mae Clarke, Lois Moran, Buck Jones, Tim McCoy, and Eddie Buzzell. What a wonderful collection of talented actors and actresses (and one of the most talented directors ever) Columbia had at this time! They would soon lose several of these stars to other studios, because Harry Cohn would not match the salaries those studios offered. Had he been more generous with his stars, Columbia might have become one of the top studios of the 1930s!
