She is best remembered for starring in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds and Marnie. She is also the mother of actress Melanie Griffith. In 1971, she was making a movie that involved a lion, and she learned of their poor treatment, which began her devotion to wild animals. In 1981, she spent $17 million to film the movie "Roar", about the treatment of big cats, and it only took in $2 million at the box office. She has devoted all the years since to helping wild animals. As of 2022, she is still alive at the age of 92! Important Added Info: Note that this book page has been personally autographed (signed) by Tippi Hedren (she added "Melanie Daniels in 'The Birds'", because the page is about Hitchcock's 'Psycho'!). Our consignor obtained this autograph in person at the Cleveland Convention Center in 2006. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the signature is authentic. Also note that this page was removed from a book. There is printing on the reverse side of the page, and we may or may not have photographed it. But this page can be matted or framed for little money and makes a great inexpensive display! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
