Date Sold 10/19/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Four Daughters, the 1938 Michael Curtiz (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic family relationship sister melodrama sequel ("Fannie Hurst's Great Story"; "What happens when sisters become rivals in love!"; "From the Cosmopolitan Magazine story"; "Screenplay by Julius J. Epstein and Lenore J. Coffee"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Priscilla Lane, Rosemary Lane, Lola Lane, Gale Page, Claude Rains, John Garfield (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Jeffrey Lynn ("Tomorrow's biggest romantic favorite!"), Dick Foran, Frank McHugh, and May Robson. Note that this was John Garfield's very first movie, and Warner Bros. knew he would be a major star, so even though he only had a fairly small role, they billed him as "The most dynamic discovery since Cagney!", which was their highest praise (but to be fair, they also thought Jeffrey Lynn would be a big star, and that sure didn't happen). They were right, because Garfield stole the movie in his minor supporting role, and was nominated for an Oscar, and soon was a major star! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: fair to good. Both have darkened substantially and have paper loss around the edges. Both have become brittle with age and must be handled carefully.
