Around the World With Burton Holmes, the 1920s MGM silent adventure travelogue documentary short series (about the adventures of Burton Holmes, who was a famous world traveler at that time). It is estimated that Burton Holmes gave over 8,000 illustrated travel lectures, using slides and motion pictures, from the 1890s to the 1950s. He traveled to every continent and to every country he could, circling the globe six times. Astoundingly, almost all his journeys took place before the invention of the airplane! When Paramount and MGM brought the Burton Holmes series to the big screen in the 1920s, it showed the adventures of the world traveler to audiences across the nation.
