Earnshaw & R.R. Morgan"; about a scientist who invents a "death ray", and a madman kidnaps him, but Chandu the Magician shows up and rescues the scientist) starring Edmund Lowe (in the title role as Chandu the Magician), Irene Ware, Bela Lugosi (as Roxor, the kidnapping madman), Herbert Mundin, Henry B. Walthall, and Weldon Heyburn. Note that Chandu the Magician was a radio show that started airing in Los Angeles in 1931, and went nationwide the following year. That was also when this movie version was made. Two years later, a sequel, The Return of Chandu, was made, and this time, Bela Lugosi played the lead role, after having a supporting role in this one. The show went off the air in 1936. It was revived in 1948 as a 15 minute show and ran for two years. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
