An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Movie Poster (measures 20" x 27 1/2" [51 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) Munchhausen (released in the U.S. as "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen"), the 1943 Josef von Baky German fantasy adventure comedy (based on the exaggerated fantasy stories by Rudolf Erich Raspe) starring Hans Albers (in the title role as Baron Munchhausen), Wilhelm Bendow, Brigitte Horney, Kathe Haack, Ilse Werner, and Eduard von Winterstein. Note that the screenplay on this movie was reportedly written by "Berthold Burger", but the movie actually carries no screenwriting credit at all! Why? Because the screenplay was actually written by Erich Kastner, whose books had been banned in Germany in 1933 (and all copies were burned). But when this movie was made, Joseph Goebbels assigned him to write the script for it, but only on the condition that he not reveal to anyone that he had done so. So there was not credit in the movie, and it was only on the actual script that Kastner used the alias "Berthold Burger"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Luigi Martinati Important Added Info: Note that we have seen two completely different styles of Italian posters for this title. In 2011 we auctioned a poster that had art of Albers riding a cannonball but now we have been consigned this rare poster that also has art of the two female stars as well. They have the same printer and studio information and we believe that they are from the same first release, but if anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has light fold and border wear and it has slightly darkened along the right blank border. There is a small tear in the lower right blank border that has been repaired with tape from the back and there are a few tiny creases and tears in the right blank edge. Those defects are restricted to the blank border and other than some very minor fold and border wear the very rare poster is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
