I the Jury, the 1982 Richard T. Heffron police private detective crime revenge adventure thriller ("He's charming, he's sexy, he's tough, and he's too hot to cool down. He's 'The Hammer."; "Based on the novel by Mickey Spillane"; about a tough private detective whose friend is killed, and he vows to not only catch the murderer, but also to shoot the murderer in the stomach, so they "die slow and painful") starring Armand Assante (as Mike Hammer), Barbara Carrera, Laurene Landon, Alan King, Geoffrey Lewis, Paul Sorvino (as Pat Chambers), Judson Earney Scott, Barry Snider, Julia Barr, and Jessica James. Note that there had been an older version of this movie in 1953 starring Biff Elliott as Mike Hammer. Note that Mickey Spillane was a department store salesman in 1940 when he discovered he could sell stories for comic books, and he quickly wrote for all the major companies. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Air Force and became a fighter pilot. After the war, he wrote "I, the Jury" in 19 days, and it was published in 1947, and it sold 6.5 million copies in the U.S. alone. Its hero, Mike Hammer, a hard-boiled private eye, would appear in many more novels. Spillane would write for the movies, and he even played Mike Hammer in "The Girl Hunters" in 1963!
