An Original Vintage Unfolded Special Movie Poster (measures 23" x 40 1/2" [58 x 103 cm]) (Learn More) The Graduate, the classic 1968 Mike Nichols (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) coming-of-age romantic melodrama ("'Benjamin do you find me undesirable?' 'Oh, no Mrs. Robinson. I think you're the most attractive of all my parents' friends.'"; "This is Benjamin. He's a little worried about his future."; "'Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me...aren't you?'"; "Screenplay by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry"; "Songs by Paul Simon performed by Simon and Garfunkel"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a college graduate who becomes involved with the wife of his father's business partner and then romances her daughter) starring Anne Bancroft (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; as Mrs. Robinson), Dustin Hoffman (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Benjamin Braddock), Katharine Ross (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Elaine Robinson), William Daniels (as Mr. Braddock), Murray Hamilton (as Mr. Robinson), Elizabeth Wilson (as Mrs. Braddock), Buck Henry (who wrote the screenplay, as the "Room Clerk"), Brian Avery (as Carl), Norman Fell (as Mr. McCleery), and a young Richard Dreyfuss (in a bit part, but he does have two lines!) Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this really cool and mysterious poster! What is the mystery? We don't know where it was created and for what purpose. We don't think there is a chance that it is a commercial poster, because it seems way too big to be something that was sold, and it has no indications of that anyway. It has the UA/Transamerica logo that is on the international U.S. posters from before the Academy Awards, but it was sent to us from a Japanese collector. There is nothing to indicate that it is Japanese (it is entirely in English), and also, the first release Japanese posters had the old UA logo on them, so we feel we can surely rule out that it is Japanese. So what is it? Our best guess is that it is a special promotional poster that was sent out to other English speaking countries before the movie played there (perhaps Australia, New Zealand, or Canada), and we think it would be from before the movie opened anywhere, to try to get those countries to book it, but of course, that is only a guess. Still, it is a great poster with a completely different image from any other Graduate poster we have ever seen, and it is a really cool size! But please don't bid on it unless you can accept the uncertainties outlined above. If anyone knows more about any of this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. There are some light creases around the edges and a few scattered in the image. There is a tiny pinhole in each corner. Certainly, it can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one might choose to have it backed. Either way, the new owner will have a really cool poster that perhaps no one else in the world has, something very unusual for a 1968 mainstream movie! Learn More about condition grades
