An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Great Man Votes, the 1939 Garson Kanin political screwball comedy ("Even 'Iron Hat' McCarty, toughest heeler in the Old 13th, had to kowtow to the man they'd been kicking around... when the town woke up to find his single ballot controlling the whole election."; "No man's a failure who's a hero to his kids! ..When shiftless old Vance gets that lesson in life... you'll glow and cheer through your tears and laughs and heart-throbs!"; about an alcoholic washed up man who, through a bizarre series of events, ends up with the deciding vote in an election, and both parties court him and gets a second chance at life) starring John Barrymore, Peter Holden, Virginia Weidler, Donald MacBride, and Katharine Alexander. Note that this was John Barrymore's last great performance, and it helped that he was a real life alcoholic washed up man playing an alcoholic washed up man on screen. Also note that the movie was basically remade in 2008 as "Swing Vote" with Kevin Costner in the lead role. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and extra creases in the right half of the bottom two horizontal folds. There were some tears scattered in the vertical foldline and some tears and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
