An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Mae Clarke was an actress from the 1920s to the 1970s. She will forever be best remembered as the girl who James Cagney hit in the face with a grapefruit in "Public Enemy". Some of her other best roles were in Frankenstein, Lady Killer, Great Guy, and The Front Page. She passed away in 1992 at the age of 81. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Mae Clarke! It has a wonderful "provenance", which resulted in it having Miss Clarke's "signature" on the back! This is because it comes from the personal collection of actress Mae Clarke, who avidly collected stills from her own movies. In each case, she would take the still and write the names (in cursive) of the actors pictured on the front, and also the name of the movie in pen on the back of each still. Since she was writing her own name, that means that she "signed" every still, and this is one of them! This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain a rare still from one of Mae Clarke's movies, as well as having her signature on the back! Note that this is one of four signed Mae Clarke stills we have in this set of auctions. Also note that this still had an original snipe on the back and someone had written a long paragraph below that. Apparently, Miss Clarke didn't like what was written, because she scribbled over all of the writing, and she also noted that someone had handwritten her name without the "e" at the end, and so she added it in herself and circled the word (or someone else did). However, she wrote her name at the bottom of the snipe and wrote "signed" next to it As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: good to very good. Learn More about condition grades
