An Autographed Letter (measures 6 1/2" x 9 1/2") (Learn More) Mary Pickford was a Canadian actress from the 1900s to the 1930s. She was one of the top silent actresses, who specialized in playing young girl roles as an adult, and she was called "America's Sweetheart", and when she married Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. in 1920, the country rejoiced (and the country mourned when they divorced in 1936!). Some of her movies include: Little Annie Rooney (in the title role), Sparrows, My Best Girl, Coquette (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role), and Tess of the Storm Country. She passed away in 1979 at the age of 87. Important Added Info: Note that this letter has been personally autographed (signed) by Mary Pickford! The signed letter comes with a 3 1/4" x 4" vintage photo of Miss Pickford and Dorothy Credille together along with a newspaper article that has the same picture and a story together with it (obviously, Miss Credille supplied the photo and the story to the newspaper; see our images). This signed letter (and others from this same collection sold in past auctions) comes from the estate of Dorothy Credille, who was a Hollywood publicist in the 1930s to the 1950s. During the course of her work, she became personal friends and an acquaintance of all the top Hollywood stars, and she received many autographed 8x10s and 11x14s from them, many personalized to her. We have previously auctioned several other items from this lady's wonderful collection. Condition: good to very good. The letter has darkened unevenly, but it is faint darkening (see our image). It was attached to an album page and the album page was trimmed around the edges of the photo, but it remains glued to the back of the letter. The small vintage photo has some paper from an album page attached to the back of the bottom, and the newspaper photo and article are glued to the remnants of an album page.
