She was born in 1911, and when she was 16, she beat out 2,000 other young ladies for the lead role in the 1927 movie "The Patent Leather Kid". She became one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars of 1928, at just 17. But during adolescence, she had started gaining weight, and the studio pressured her to lose weight if she wanted better roles, and amazingly, this completely healthy 17 year old had surgery on her legs and hips (surely a primitive version of liposuction!). She only made a total of 20 movies. In 1934, she married actor Jack Durant, and only made one more movie the following year, and the couple had four children, and she passed away in 1998 at the age of 87! She was the sister of actress Sally O'Neil. Condition: good to very good. The still pictured at right is on deluxe paper and has been hand-tinted. It has slight discoloration scattered in various areas (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
