An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Mexican Movie Poster (measures approximately 27" x 37" [69 x 94 cm]) (Learn More) La Ilusion Viaja en Tranvia (released in the U.S. as "Illusion Travels by Streetcar"), the 1954 Luis Bunuel Mexican adventure comedy melodrama (about the longtime conductor and mechanic of a streetcar that is about to be "retired", so they "borrow" it for one last ride, which ends up an all night drunken affair, and when they wake up the next morning, they have trouble "returning" it) starring Lilia Prado, Carlos Navarro, Fernando Soto (billed as "Mantequilla"), Agustin Isunza, and Miguel Manzano NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the last time we auctioned an example of this Mexican poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Mexican movie, it sold for $512! Note that this linenbacked Mexican poster (and 110 others, which we are auctioning in 111 separate auctions) comes from a remarkable collection of Mexican posters which was assembled over many decades! We first auctioned ones from this collection in August and December of 2023, and those included many great rarities, and they sold for as much as $2,505, but there were also a number of great bargains that sold for well under the cost of linenbacking alone! Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some darkening in the folds and borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
