An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style C Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

The Better 'ole, the 1926 Charles Reisner silent World War I (WWI) military comedy (based on the 1919 play by Bruce Bairnsfather and Arthur Elliott, which was based on Bairnsfather's comic strip, "Old Bill") starring Syd Chaplin (as Old Bill), Harold Goodwin, Jack Ackroyd, Edgar Kennedy, Charles K. Gerrard and Theo Lorch. Note that Bruce Bairnsfather was an English soldier who rose to prominence during World War I, when he became a cartoonist and had a comic strip concerning a character called Old Bill. Immediately after the war, he wrote a play called "The Better 'Ole" (the title of which came from one of his classic strips, showing two English soldiers arguing over a foxhole, and one saying "If you know of a better 'ole, take it").
