Date Sold 10/25/2022 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 3 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Humoresque, the 1946 Jean Negulesco tragic romantic melodrama ("A woman with a stormy heart she couldn't control!"; "A beautiful woman is most dangerous when she's in love!"; "'Love me now,' she said, 'hate me later'... and then all the warmth of their nearness engulfed these two who met and kissed and shouldn't have met again!"; "Screen Play by Clifford Odets and Zachary Gold"; "Based on a Story by Fannie Hurst"; about a rich society woman who becomes obsessed with a much younger brilliant violinist; he returns her love, but also loves a much younger woman, with tragic consequences; sort of a cross between "Golden Boy" and "Sunset Boulevard") starring Joan Crawford ("The winner of the 1945 Academy award for 'Mildred Pierce' in another history-making role!"), John Garfield, Oscar Levant, J. Carrol Naish, Robert 'Bobby' Blake, Joan Chandler, and Ruth Nelson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these stills appear in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right of each still. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the stills were printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that they WERE printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So they are original stills from 1946, but they were printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
