A 1938 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the classic 1923 Wallace Worsley Universal silent Paris France Notre Dame Cathedral romantic religious historical horror melodrama ( "'Mighty Epic of a Mighty Epoch'"; adapted from the equally classic novel by Victor Hugo) starring Lon Chaney Sr. (in the title role as "Quasimodo", the Hunchback of Notre Dame), Patsy Ruth Miller (as Esmerelda), Norman Kerry, Kate Lester, Elmo Lincoln (best remembered for being the very first actor to portray Tarzan in the movies in 1918), and Winifred Bryson. Note that there was a wonderful sound remake of this classic silent movie in 1939, with Charles Laughton and Maureen O'Hara in the lead roles.

Important Added Info: Note that our consignor told us that this still is from a 1938 re-release of this classic silent movie. We did not know the movie was re-released at that time (and it looks to us like this could be an original 1925 still), but it also makes sense that Universal might re-release this movie just before the 1939 RKO new version came out. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
