An Original Vintage Unfolded Political Campaign Poster (measures 13 3/4" x 22" [35 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Henry Wallace/Glen Taylor, the 1948 political campaign poster ("hear BOTH") advertising a political rally held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Tuesday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m.. The 1948 presidential campaign was one of the most interesting and most exciting elections ever (at least until the 2016 presidential election)! Harry Truman was the Democratic candidate and Thomas E. Dewey was the Republican candidate, but Strom Thurmond ran on the "States' Rights Democratic" ticket, and Henry Wallace ran on the Progressive/American Labor ticket (with Glen Taylor for Vice President), and just as in the 1860 election, where extra candidates caused the election of Abraham Lincoln (by fracturing the support of his opponents), so too in this election Harry Truman won, partially because both Strom Thurmond and Henry Wallace received over a million votes each, together accounting for nearly 5% of the total votes. Henry Wallace had been in the presidential cabinet as Secretary of Agriculture from 1933 to 1940, and in 1940, he became FDR's Vice President, but he disagreed with many of FDR's policies, and in 1944, he was replaced as Vice President by Harry Truman, and after FDR passed away, and Truman became President, Wallace ran against him in this 1948 election! Important Added Info: Note that this poster is printed on a heavier weight paper stock, similar to that of window cards of this time period. It cannot be rolled and sent in a tube, so it will need to be sent in a large flat package. Condition: good to very good. There is a 2" tear in the right of the top border that extends into Taylor's forehead. There are small tears and tiny surface paper loss in the top border and a small amount in the other borders (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
