An Original 1939 (from the first release of this movie in Belgium) Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24 1/2" x 35 1/2" [62 x 90 cm]) (Learn More) Joy of Living, the 1938 Tay Garnett New York City Broadway theater stage acting romantic musical comedy ("Music by Jerome Kern"; "Lyrics by Dorothy Fields"; "Based on an Original Story by Dorothy and Herbert Fields"; about a Broadway star who supports a bunch of sponging relatives, and she meets a sea captain who wants her to retire and live with him on a South Seas island, and after she gets drunk, she marries him and goes away, but she soon misses her prior life, and she returns to it; but at the end, she realizes she belongs with her husband on that island, and she runs to his ship to sail away with him!) starring Irene Dunne, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Alice Brady, Guy Kibbee, Jean Dixon, Eric Blore, Lucille Ball, and Warren Hymer. Note that this is an almost completely forgotten 1930s musical with great music by Jerome Kern. Its plot is incredibly familiar, and it borrows heavily from many classic movies of the 1930s! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster is somewhat brittle and there is much separation and some tattering and tiny paper loss along the foldlines and edges. There are brown paper tape repairs on the back of the poster at the crossfold at center and at the ends of the vertical fold and middle horizontal fold. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition and its colors are still vibrant and after restoration it will display quite nicely! Learn More about condition grades
