An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Yugoslavian Movie Poster (measures 19 1/2" x 27 3/4" [50 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) Freddy unter fremden Sternen (literally translates to "Freddy Under Foreign Stars"), the 1959 Wolfgang Schleif German adventure musical starring Freddy Quinn, Gustav Knuth, Vera Tschechowa, Christian Machalet, Dieter Eppler, and Ursula Krieg. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. Note that this movie starred Freddy Quinn, who was actually Austrian and was born Franz Eugen Helmuth Manfred Nidl-Petz in 1931. He was an actor and a singer, and in 1956, he recorded his first hit, "Heimweh", which was a German version of Dean Martin's "Memories Are Made of This", which sold over 8 million copies and was #1 on the German charts for five months! This led to many popular records and him starring in many movies, including several where he played "Freddy", a rootless wanderer who goes to sea, but who perpetually wishes he had a home to return to, with family and friends. He had ten #1 hits between 1956 and 1966, after which he mostly retired, performing some on stage. He could speak 12 languages! He is still alive, and hopefully well!
