An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Special Movie Poster (measures 24" x 39") (Learn More) THX 1138, the 1971 George Lucas science fiction (sci-fi) dystopian future melodrama ("The future is here."; "Visit the future where love is the ultimate crime."; "Story by George Lucas"; "Executive Producer, Francis Ford Coppola") starring Robert Duvall (in the title role as THX 1138), Donald Pleasence, Don Pedro Colley, John Seaton, Johnny Weissmuller Jr., Susan Baldwin, Ian Wolfe, and Maggie McOmie. Note that this was George Lucas' first movie. Some people (including myself) liked it quite a bit, but generally its dark and ultra-depressing theme turned off audiences, and it was not very successful on first release. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is a special "chrome robot" poster for George Lucas' first feature, THX 1138. It is printed on a very heavy paper stock, and the surface of it is completely chromed. It is from the original 1971 release of the movie, and it was not sent out to theaters in general (theaters showing the movie had to contact a special address listed in the pressbook in order to get this poster). This poster has been consigned to us directly from noted poster collector Craig Miller, who worked for George Lucas from 1976 through 1979! When buying posters like this, one always worries about the possibility that the poster you are buying might not be authentic, but this poster surely has the best possible provenance, coming directly from a Lucas employee, who is active in the poster hobby! Note that Craig has also consigned an example of the famous Star Wars Birthday Poster, as well as an Official Star Wars Fan Club Poster and Star Wars Howard Chaykin 1st Edition Poster, which we are selling elsewhere on eBay as individual auctions. Also note that this special chrome foil poster measures 24" x 39". Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is a 27" x 41" one-sheet. Note that this poster has been professionally linenbacked. I have owned several of these posters, and the foil surface scuffs EXTREMELY easily, and I don't know how many examples survive that are completely unscuffed. This example has a few scuffs down the left side of the poster, but overall is likely to have survived in better shape than most other examples. The poster was linenbacked in order to protect it and make it easier to frame, and the linenbacking has done those jobs well! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
