An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Paul Terry presents Terry-Toons Might Mouse, the 1943 stock poster for Terrytoons Mighty Mouse animated cartoons (produced by Paul Terry) featuring a fantastic single large image of Mighty Mouse. In the 1920s, Paul Terry made wonderful individual one-sheets for his cartoons. But in the 1930s, when his company fell on hard times, he had been creating a single stock poster each year for all of his cartoons, each featuring a montage of his characters (there were ones from 1934 through 1942, at least). But Mighty Mouse was SO popular that Paul Terry created this great stock poster for just Mighty Mouse in 1943. It had a large blank area at the bottom, and as each cartoon was produced, they would overprint examples of this poster with specific titles, and send those to theaters (but some have survived without any titles at all). These stock posters (printed in 1943) continued to be used for the next four years, being overprinted with each of the new titles! (It is very rare for stock cartoon posters to have only a single character pictured, and especially in such a large size!). Note that when Mighty Mouse was first created in 1942, his name was "Super Mouse", and his costume was the exact same red and blue that Superman's was. We don't know if DC Comics threatened Paul Terry with a lawsuit, but his name was quickly changed to Mighty Mouse, and over time, his costume changed to a yellow color instead of the "Superman blue"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this specific stock poster was overprinted with the title "MIGHTY MOUSE AND THE WOLF", the 1945 cartoon. The poster was printed in 1943, but it was overprinted in 1945 for use with showings of this cartoon (see above). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some extra creases in the top half of the vertical foldline, with minor wear on the other folds and some faint smudges around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
