Date Sold 11/3/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Homemade Movie Poster (measures 28" x 37 1/2" [71 x 95 cm]) (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy, the 1955 Charles Lamont Egypt desert screwball horror comedy ("They're back! ...in their Mummy's arms"; "Their funniest Laughs-For-All Hit!"; "They fight the Goon of the Tomb!"; "They're chummy with a mummy!"; "They get clipped in the crypt!"; "It's Mummy's Day for Bud and Lou!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Marie Windsor, Michael Ansara, Peggy King, Richard Deacon, and Eddie Parker (in the title role as Klaris, the Mummy) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Bill Wiggins Important Added Info: Note that this is what some in the hobby have dubbed a "Frankenposter", which means a poster created out of pieces of other posters, or created from a single poster that has had elements added to change it into a poster for a completely different movie! In this case, a theater was showing a reissue of Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy, but they didn't have a poster for it, but they DID have a half-sheet from The Mummy from 1959, so they took that half-sheet and glued it to a board, first cutting out the original title area from top left, and they then painted on the title of the movie they were showing in that area! Since they had a board that was much bigger than a half-sheet (28" x 37 1/2"), they also artistically painted the title in the bottom in a box with some decorative painting around both the top and bottom areas. So this is a wacky homemade poster that is surely one of a kind, and bear that in mind before bidding on it. Also bear in mind that it was created on a heavy board and will need to be shipped in a large flat package that measures approximately 30" x 40", so bear that added shipping expense in mind as well. Condition: fair to good. As noted above, a theater took a half-sheet from a 1959 movie, The Mummy, and reworked it into a poster for a 1960s re-release of Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (even though the image is completely wrong, and does not show Abbott or Costello). We leave it to bidders to decide how much this is worth, but bear in mind its homemade elements and its defects, as seen in our image. Learn More about condition grades
