A Group of 10 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Stand Up and Cheer!, the 1934 Hamilton MacFadden musical comedy ("A triumph of originality"; "The show of 1,001 surprises"; "Story and Dialogue by Lew Brown") starring Warner Baxter, Madge Evans, Sylvia Froos, John Boles, James Dunn, Tess Gardella (billed as "Aunt Jemima"), Shirley Temple, Arthur Byron, Ralph Morgan, Nigel Bruce, John 'Skins' Miller (billed as "Skins Miller"), Lucien Littlefield, Nick Foran, Frank Mitchell & Jack Durant (billed as "Mitchell & Durant"), Stepin Fetchit, and Scotty Beckett. Note that Shirley Temple had appeared in some comedy short subjects, and the public really liked her, so Fox put her in this all-star vehicle, and she appears in very little of the original movie paper advertising, but she was again strongly noticed, and was soon starring in movies! Important Added Info: Note that stills from this movie are extremely rare (to give you a sense of how rare, we have only auctioned a total of 14 of them in all our years of auctioning, and none of those showed Shirley Temple). However, this set of stills, which comes with a studio-created sheet gives captions for the stills (see our image), has two great stills of Shirley Temple, one of which is a close portrait of her, and the other of which shows her with Nick Foran, "the two-fisted crooner". Fox had great hopes for both these actors introduced in this movie, and of course, they were right about Shirley Temple, but not so much about Nick Foran! The other 8 stills in this set do not show Shirley Temple, but they include wonderful shots of sexy showgirls, one of which is a candid (see our images). Condition: very good. Some of the stills have lightened somewhat to a sepia color, but they are otherwise in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
