Important Added Info: In 1977, several newspapers around the country serialized the novelization of Star Wars in June 1977 as part of the general marketing and licensing program to get more people to see the movie. Each newspaper had it own poster, some with art and some with just words. This poster, which is printed on thin cardboard, was to promote the beginning of this serialization in the Seattle Post Intelligencer, and examples of it would have been placed in the windows of newspaper vending boxes. We checked with legendary Star Wars experts Steve Sansweet and Pete Vilmur, and they were able to confirm that this series began in the June 26, 1977 issue of this newspaper, and they agree with us that this poster is a virtual certainty to be an original that was displayed in Seattle prior to the publication of that issue. Note that this special "all Star Wars" auction began with a phone call from a VERY long time collector of Star Wars posters! He told us that he had reached a point in his life where he was wanting to sell his collection, and he asked if we could do it all at one time. Because he had 174 posters (including many of the most rare and desirable ones), we were happy to comply, but we told him that we would like to also add additional rare Star Wars posters from other collectors, and he agreed, and after we were consigned an additional 117 posters and related items, we have our auction! This item is one of the additional 117 items that we were consigned from other collectors. They REALLY came through with wonderful additional items that really add to the overall auction! If you are interested in knowing more about the person who assembled the amazing collection of 174 posters in this auction, CLICK HERE to read a written history of how he came to assemble this amazing collection! Condition: good to very good. The poster is on stiff cardboard and it has some scuffs and tiny stains scattered throughout. They are not very distracting at all, and this poster could certainly be displayed exactly as it is (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
