Richard Jones silent romantic south-of-the-border crime adventure religious melodrama ("The peerless 'Doug' in his fastest moving picture"; Fairbanks is an outlaw who lives by a shrine to the Madonna, and after religious people come to the shrine and leave offerings, he plans to steals the money, but he falls for Lupe Velez, and, after the Madonna herself appears to him in a vision [cleverly played in an unbilled cameo by his wife, the angelic Mary Pickford!], Fairbanks undergoes a religious conversion, and stops his life of crime!) starring Douglas Fairbanks Sr. (in the title role "as The Gaucho"), Lupe Velez, Joan Barclay, Eve Southern, Gustav von Seyffertitz, and Mary Pickford (in an unbilled cameo role!)
