Nikaragua braucht Frieden und Solidaritat (literally translates to "Nicaragua Needs Peace and Solidarity"), the 1980s East German poster produced by the Solidaritatskomitee der DDR, promoting support for Nicaragua, and featuring a postal code where donations could be sent, and Mario Marin art of a Nicaraguan village. Solidaritatskomitee der DDR (Solidarity Committee of the GDR) was an anti-imperialist solidarity organization that coordinated action undertaken by the social organizations, public institutions, and the people of the GDR to extend solidarity assistance to the peoples fighting against imperialism, colonialism, racism and apartheid. Soon after the Sandinista Revolution of 1979, solidarity movements in both West Germany and East Germany began to develop "their" version of Nicaragua.
