Joe, the classic 1945 William A. Wellman World War II (WWII) military biography ("You're there with Ernie Pyle and your G.I."; "The true story of every woman's fighting man"; "Now Immortalized on the Screen!"; "He saw them all! ...now they live for you on the screen"; "A motion picture as big as Ernie's own heart"; of war correspondent Ernie Pyle; note that this movie was also the inspiration for one of the greatest lines of action figures ever, G.I. Joe!) starring Burgess Meredith ("as Ernie Pyle"), Robert Mitchum (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Freddie Steele, Wally Cassell, Jimmy Lloyd, John R. Reilly, Dorothy Coonan, and Yolanda Lacca. Note that Mitchum was barely mentioned (and not pictured) on any of the original advertising for this movie. A few years later, in 1949, when it was re-released (after Mitchum had become a huge star), it was promoted as a Robert Mitchum starring movie, and Mitchum's image took the place of Meredith's on the posters! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Carlantonio Longi Condition: good to very good. The poster has some tiny paper loss in the vertical foldline between the top crossfold and middle crossfold (the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded). There are a few other tiny areas of paper loss in the poster and some separation on small parts of some foldlines. Learn More about condition grades
