A 1981 Re-Release Theatrical Unfolded Printer's Test One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Empire Strikes Back (now known as "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back"), the classic 1980 Irvin Kershner science fiction (sci-fi) outer space action adventure sequel ("The Star Wars Saga Continues"; "Story by George Lucas") starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Billy Dee Williams (as Lando Calrissian), Anthony Daniels ("as C-3PO"), David Prowse ("as Darth Vader"), Kenny Baker ("as R2-D2"), Peter Mayhew ("as Chewbacca"), Frank Oz ("as Yoda"), Alec Guinness (as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Jeremy Bulloch (as Boba Fett), and John Hollis (as Lobot)v NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Tom Jung Important Added Info: Note that this poster has the title in white letters only, and it does not have any small text at the bottom (both the regular "NSS style" and the "studio style" DO have printing at the bottom). All examples of this poster that we have ever auctioned have the title in yellow letters. This is similar to the situation with the style B one-sheet for Return of the Jedi, where there are printer's tests known that have white titles instead of silver titles, and we think (and many collectors agree with us) that there was a decision on that poster to change the title color while it was still in the "test" mode, which is why only printer's tests exist. There is nothing about THIS poster to indicate that it is a printer's test, EXCEPT that an advanced Star Wars collector tells us that he has another example of this poster that is untrimmed and has the color bars on the side, so we know that it is a printer's test, and that the title was going to be white but then was changed to yellow for the final version. WE HAVE NEVER AUCTIONED THIS POSTER BEFORE, and it is surely an extremely rare poster! WE HAVE RECEIVED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORIGIN OF THIS POSTER. Our consignor was in the movie business at the time that this movie was re-released, and he had a friend who worked at Fox, who gave him a number of posters for then current movies, and this one was in there! Condition: fair to good. The poster was never folded. It has a long diagonal crease in the lower left corner but almost all of it is in the background area. There are many creases and scuffs in the background near to that crease and some scattered in all the background areas and the credits, but with a much lesser amount in the title and image. There are small faint brown stains across the top blank border with a tiny burn mark in the upper right blank border and scuffs in the lower right border that extend into the background. Obviously one would prefer to find an example of this poster in better condition, but we don't know that another exists, and certainly any amount of restoration can be performed, if the new owner chooses to have it done!
