An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Babes on Broadway, the 1941 Busby Berkeley New York City Broadway theater stage acting dance romantic musical comedy ("The fastest musical show on Earth!"; "Biggest song and dance spectacle of all time!"; "Mickey's impersonation of Carmen Miranda is a riot!"; "Original story by Fred Finklehoffe") starring Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Fay Bainter, Virginia Weidler, Ray McDonald, Richard Quine, Donald Meek, and Alexander Woollcott. Note that this movie includes a scene where Rooney does a dance cross-dressed as Carmen Miranda, complete with a fruit basket on his head! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned two examples of this insert, and only one in the last 24 years! Note that this poster has five images of Judy Garland, plus Mickey Rooney in blackface, plus Mickey Rooney dressed as Carmen Miranda and as Cyrano de Bergerac! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Condition: good. The poster has faded somewhat (the reds have faded to pink). It has a few dot stains around the edges and three corners have been reinforced with tape from the back. There are some scuffs at upper right and left. The very rare poster could certainly be displayed and enjoyed, but please bear in mind the fading and see our super-sized image before placing a bid.
