A 1953 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29 1/4" x 43 1/2" [74 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) Love Happy, the 1949 David Miller musical screwball comedy ("New Musical Girlesque!!!"; "Their Newest! Funniest! Musical!") starring the Marx Brothers (Groucho, Chico, and Harpo), Ilona Massey ("Screendom's most beautiful blonde!"), Vera-Ellen ("Thrills in the torrid 'Sadie Thompson' dance!"), Marion Hutton ("She swings with the strings of your heart!"), Raymond Burr, Melville Cooper, Leon Belasco, Paul Valentine, Eric Blore, Bruce Gordon, Otto Waldis, and Marilyn Monroe (in only her second credited movie role!). What is remarkable is that the people who designed the posters put pictures of three pretty girls on them, but did not manage to make Marilyn Monroe one of them, surely a major blunder. She WAS pictured on one of the lobby cards, but that seems to have been almost by chance! I know this was because she was unknown at the time, but I would think they would have recognized her obvious assets! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that when this movie was re-released in 1953, Marilyn Monroe had become the world's greatest sex symbol, and so she was prominently pictured and credited on the posters (the U.S. poster read: "The Picture That Discovered MARILYN MONROE"), even though she had a small part, and had not been credited or pictured on the original release posters! Condition: fair to good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some creases, tiny tears, and tiny dots of paper loss scattered on parts of many foldlines. There was faint water staining and smudging throughout the image. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not address the water staining and smudging, which is definitely quite noticeable. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept the poster as it is and are willing to pay to have them properly restored! Learn More about condition grades
