Can you [like Danny Kaye] daydream yourself into the arms of the gorgeous Goldwyn girls?"; "From a story by James Thurber") starring Danny Kaye (in the title role as Walter Mitty), Virginia Mayo, Boris Karloff, Fay Bainter, Ann Rutherford, "The Goldwyn Girls", Gordon Jones, and George Magrill (as the Wolf Man) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Bernard Lancy Condition: good. The poster had an area of "teardrop" area of staining in the shadow background to the left of Kaye's leg. There were creases, tears, and some tiny areas of paper loss on most foldlines and some pinholes and tiny areas of paper loss scattered through the image. There were many pinholes, creases, scuffs, and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster and some smudges and stains scattered through the image. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was not very well backed. It was backed onto a very thin linen backing, and very rudimentary restoration was performed to the above defects (in particular, the paint over the "teardrop" area of staining does not particularly match at all, and is quite noticeable). If I owned this poster, I would certainly have it professionally re-backed. It would require a healthy amount of paint restoration, but after proper linenbacking, the poster would look quite nice (although it would likely have a "restored" look to it).
