A Matted Display with Autographed 3 1/4" x 5" [8 x 13 cm] Card and Vintage Comic Book Page (entire display measures 16" x 20") (Learn More) Bob Kane was an American comic book artist and writer from the 1930s to the 1990s. He is the co-creator of the legendary comic book hero, Batman (although he took sole credit for many years, but it eventually came out that not only did others create many of the Batman concepts, but he also drew little or no actual art, so other than the initial idea for Batman, it is not certain how much he ever actually did). He was inducted into both the comic book industry's Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 1996. He passed away in 1998 at the age of 83. Important Added Info: Note that this display was created by a comic book fan many years ago. They had a single page from Detective #45, the November 1940 issue, which has the first appearance of The Joker. They also had a 3 1/4" x 5" card that had Bob Kane's signature on it. They matted those two items together with a REPRODUCTION of the cover of Detective #45, and a small sheet explaining what was in the display. To be very clear, the winner of this display will receive an actual single page from Detective #45, the autographed Bob Kane card, and the REPRODUCTION cover. Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity for the signature, but we feel certain it is authentic, and the comic book page is definitely an original from 1940. Condition: good to very good. The comic book page has darkened. It has some tiny tears and tiny paper loss in the top border, with a 1" vertical tear at top center. It has pencil writing in the top blank area. The signed card is in pretty nice condition. The display was created by using a mat with cuts that have the display items taped to the back of the mat with small pieces of tape, and then the entire display is held together with clear tape in the center of each border. It can easily be disassembled. Learn More about condition grades
