An Original Vintage Autographed 1946 Baseball World Series Souvenir Program Book (measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 36 pages) (Learn More) World Series 1946, the 1946 souvenir program book commemorating the baseball championship series held between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox. Note that this was the sixth time the Cardinals won the World Series! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by TWENTY people: Dizzy Dean, Stan Musial, Terry Moore, Howard Pollet, Harry Walker, Al Brazle, Ken Burkhart, Jeff Cross, Red Barrett, Freddy Schmidt, Howie Krist, Clyde Kluttz, Red Munger, Dick Sisler, Erv Dusak, Walter Sessi, Johnny Beazley, Murry Dickson, Del Rice, AND Harry Brecheen! There is a great story behind the autographs on this program. Our consignor's father was at the game in 1946 with his father, and the two of them went to a restaurant after the game. The entire team came into that same restaurant and went into a private room in the back. The grandfather told his son (our consignor's father) to "have some balls and ask them to sign it"! He went back in the room with the program and all the players signed the centerfold for him, and he added at the top of the page "SUNDAY OCTOBER 13th 1946 CARDS WIN 4-1 SERIES TIED. THIS IS THE TEAM THAT DID IT.", and also, in the top right corner "THIS BELONGS TO DAN HAHN"! In 2005, he sent this program to noted autograph dealer and authenticator Richard Simon of New York City, and Mr. Simon sent back a certificate of authenticity, which will be included with the program. Note that we count 20 autographs on the page, but the letter of authenticity lists 19, so it is likely that Mr. Simon missed one of the autographs (see our image). Condition: good. The covers are separated at the spine and there are creases, tiny tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges. Both covers have light brown stains scattered on the inside. The centerfold page with all the autographs has some tiny tears around the edges and a tear where the bottom staple was, but is otherwise in pretty good condition, and certainly would look wonderful framed!
