Date Sold 12/14/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 4 1/2" x 6" [11 x 15 cm]; 3 pages) (Learn More) The Wizard, the 1927 Richard Rosson silent fantasy horror murder revenge mystery thriller ("Excitement Runs High in this fascinating drama of a Beauty and a Beast and a Reporter who found Romance in a House of Mystery"; "From the play 'Balaoo' by Gaston Leroux", who also wrote Phantom of the Opera; about a literal "mad doctor" whose son is tried and electrocuted for murder, and he seeks revenge by training an ape to follow his commands and kill those he considers responsible for his son's death, and a newspaper reporter finds the doctor, and stops him from killing two more victims) starring Edmund Lowe, Leila Hyams, Gustav von Seyffertitz, E.H. Calvert, Barry Norton, and George Kotsonaros (as the gorilla; he also played "Buck, the Gorilla Man" in "The Fifty-Fifty Girl" a year later, so we suspect he might have owned a gorilla suit!). Note that we have found Internet pages that speculate that master makeup artist Jack Pierce (later creator of the best Universal monster makeup) did the gorilla suit and makeup for George Kotsonaros on this movie. He is not listed in the credits, but he was active in Hollywood at this time, and both he and Kotsonaros were Greek, and perhaps they were friends! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. There is darkening down the left of the cover and the right of the back cover, and in the corresponding area on the inside of the program (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
