Date Sold 1/23/2022 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 5 formerly folded Egyptian posters from Batman movies (ranging in size from 23" x 34" to 28" x 42"). Batman is a comic book superhero created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger in 1939 for DC Comics. He made his debut in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 (not long after Superman), and he was soon given his own comic book as well, and both were incredibly successful. While Bob Kane received all the publicity for creating Batman, most of the credit should have been given to Bill Finger (and also Jerry Robinson, who created The Joker and many other iconic elements of what made Batman Batman). Batman's "regular" villains include: the Joker, Penguin, Ra's al Ghul, Two-Face, the Riddler, the Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Bane, Clayface, and Killer Croc. The Batman franchise has spread to almost all forms of media including books, television shows and many super successful films. Note that the items in this lot are mostly from the 2010s. Measurements: from 23" x 34" to 28" x 42"Note that we think it is extremely likely that these posters were created within the last 10 years (possibly in the last couple of years) for an Egyptian movie theater showing classic movies (perhaps they were created for a single showing, but we really don't know). We have been told that there were Egyptian film festivals in the 1990s that used posters like these, and that might well be true, but we believe these posters (and the other three lots of recent Egyptian re-releases we are currently auctioning) are much more recent than that (so maybe there continue to be film festivals to the present day). They were consigned to us from Egypt, but we know nothing more about their history except for what is written above, so please do not bid unless you can accept these uncertainties. Finally, note that prior to this set of auctions, we had been auctioning these posters individually, but, with our consignor's approval, we took the last ones he sent us and made them into five bulk lots, of which this is one, and this is the last time we will be auctioning these posters.
