An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" [22 x 29 cm]) (Learn More) Street & Smith's Picture-Play ("America's Favorite Magazine of the Screen"; "The Best Magazine of the Screen"; "Little Journeys to Filmland"; "The Film Magazine for Moderns"; "The Honest Magazine of the Screen"), one of the many movie magazines (first published in the early 1910s, when it measures 6 3/4" x 10") sold to the public (within a few years it would go to the larger size that became standard among movie magazines). Each issue features a great full color cover of a leading star of the day, plus lots of interior publicity stories about current stars and movies with many black and white images throughout. Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads, in black and white, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Of course, some of the ads are from movies that were about to open, and in the early days of eBay, people would remove those full-page ads and auction them by themselves, and they would often sell for $10, $20, or more, just for a single movie ad removed from a magazine just like this! Note that in December of 1939, the publishers of the magazine drastically revamped it and tried to give it a new updated look, with a complete makeover! There was a subtitle under the title that read "The Film Magazine for Moderns (News - Pictures - Fashions - Beauty)". We have no idea of whether this increased circulation or not. Artist: Albert Fisher Important Added Info: Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and pictures of interior two-page spreads (including the table of contents page if there is one; but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine, and the contents page lets you know exactly what articles and stories are contained in this particular issue. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: very good to fine. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine. We have solely provided an overall description of the condition of the magazine, but you can also refer to our super-sized images. Please bid (or not bid) based on that overall grade and by viewing the super-sized images. Learn More about condition grades
