An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel Movie Poster (measures 45" x 62") (Learn More) Phantom Lady, the 1944 Robert Siodmak New York City crime mystery film noir ("The most talked about mystery in ten years!"; "Based on the novel by William Irish", which was the pseudonym Cornell Woolrich used when writing this book; about a man who goes to a bar and meets a woman, and they share their sad stories, and he goes home and finds his wife has been murdered, and he tells the police about the woman in the bar, but nobody can find her, and he is sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, and his secretary tries desperately to find the woman from the bar, who is the "phantom lady" of the title) starring Franchot Tone, Ella Raines, Alan Curtis, Thomas Gomez, Aurora Miranda (sister of Carmen Miranda!), Elisha Cook Jr., Fay Helm, and Andrew Tombes NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Rene Lefebvre Important Added Info: Note that this French one-panel measures 45" x 62" and is linenbacked. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was NOT well restored. You can see signs of the restoration from a distance. This is a poster that would greatly benefit from additional professional restoration. See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). fair. Poster had numerous fold defects (small tears, small areas of paper loss, tape stains, and creases), and also numerous border defects. Someone mounted into onto an extremely thin linen without doing any restoration, and the poster has since been handed extremely roughly and there are now many creases throughout the poster (much worse in the lower 15" of the poster).
