Kismet, the 1944 William Dieterle Arabian romantic musical adventure fantasy melodrama ("Ecstasy of song spectacle and love!"; "Famed stage hit glorified on the screen"; "MGM's Technicolor glamour romance"; "Treasures of Technicolor in titanic MGM triumph!"; "MGM's Technicolor Magic"; "Based upon the play by Edward Knoblock"; about the "king of beggars" who has a beautiful daughter who wants to somehow marry her to a prince) starring Ronald Colman, Marlene Dietrich, James Craig, Edward Arnold, Hugh Herbert, Joy Ann Page, Florence Bates, Harry Davenport, and Yvonne De Carlo. Note that Otis Skinner first played this role on Broadway in 1911, and recreated it in a sound musical version in 1930, but that film is lost.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds with tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of several foldlines. There was a small triangular area of paper loss to the right of the bottom crossfold, and a 5" semi-circular tear below the middle horizontal fold, running into Dietrich's waist. There were pinholes, tears, and several areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
