A Framed Original Vintage Theatrical Mini Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 8" x 14" [20 x 36 cm]; entire frame measures 15 1/2" x 19 1/2") (Learn More) Belle of the Nineties (some movie paper was prepared with the working title "It Ain't No Sin"), the 1934 Leo McCarey riverboat entertainer romantic comedy ( "Mae West.... in the picture the whole country is talking about"; about a sexy cabaret entertainer who has a tough boxer boyfriend, but who attracts the attention of every man who sees her) starring Mae West, Roger Pryor, Johnny Mack Brown, Katherine DeMille, John Miljan, Libby Taylor, and Duke Ellington's Orchestra. Note that the movie's working title was "It Ain't No Sin", but the censors refused to allow it, and it was changed, even though some posters exist with that title. They tried to change the title to "St. Louis Woman", but the residents of that city protested, and their next title was "Belle of New Orleans", but they received similar protests, and they settled on the non-controversial "Belle of the Nineties"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that our consignor had this mini window card nicely framed, and he consigned it to us with the frame. The winning bidder of this auction can have the frame with the card, if they pay for the additional shipping (we can ship them together in one box, but we will leave the card out of the frame for shipping, so that there is no chance of it getting damaged if the frame shatters). The mini window card was lightly attached to the surface of the mat, but it could be easily removed if the new owner did not want it attached. In addition, know that we have pictured the card both in and out of the frame so that bidders can better see the condition of the card. Condition: good to very good. The window card had its top trimmed, affecting the top of the letters of Mae West. It also had pinholes and a tear in the bottom border. Someone recreated the missing top area and the tops of the letters, and they did an expert job. They also did slight touch up to the border defects. The card displays really well!
