An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Irving Berlin's White Christmas, the classic 1954 Michael Curtiz post-World War II sisters holiday singing-and-dancing romantic musical (with classic "Lyrics and music by Irving Berlin"; "The most fabulous music-and-mirth show in motion picture history!"; "Joyous entertainment for every season, any year!!!!") starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera-Ellen, and Dean Jagger. Note that this was the first motion picture to be filmed in VistaVision! Also note that the title song "White Christmas" was first introduced in 1942 in the Fred Astaire/Bing Crosby movie "Holiday Inn", and it proved to be so popular that this movie was made, utilizing part of the plot of that earlier film, and reusing this song, which was now over a decade old, but it proved to be an even greater hit! Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned four examples of this style B half-sheet, and the last one sold for $781! Also note that this poster is not marked, but since we know that there IS a style A poster on this title, and this poster has a different image, we assume that this poster is the style B, so we are referring to it in that fashion. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster's left 2" were folded back at one time, but it was otherwise unfolded. It had pinholes, slight darkening, and many tiny areas of surface paper loss around the edges. It appears that someone glued glitter to the center of the letters of the title, and the glitter is no longer present, but it is discolored in those areas. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
