An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Russian Movie Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 36 1/2" [60 x 93 cm]) (Learn More) Bronenosets Potyomkin (released in the U.S. as "The Battleship Potemkin"), the classic 1925 Sergei Eisenstein Russian Revolution silent military war thriller (considered by many to be in the handful of greatest movies ever made; the movie includes the famous Odessa steps sequence) starring Ivan Bobrov, Beatrice Vitoldi, N. Poltavseva, Aleksandr Antonov, and Vladimir Barsky If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Russian movie! Also note that this is a Russian export poster. This means that it was printed in Russia, but was intended to be used when the movie was shown in other countries. It was created with a 5" blank area at the bottom where the country that was showing the movie could print in the title and credits (or they could also print in play dates and theater names). Note that the first release Russian posters that were used in Russia are beyond rare and the known examples are primarily in museums. This "export" poster (also from 1925) is itself quite rare. We have only auctioned three examples of it in all our years of auctioning, and only one in the past 17 years, and that one sold for $1,371. Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded like a U.S. one-sheet and there is tiny paper loss at the middle crossfold, with some tiny creases and scuffs along most of the folds. It had some faint discoloration in the blank borders and bottom blank area, with a few pinholes in the borders (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
