Date Sold 11/7/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Son of Dracula, the 1943 Robert Siodmak Universal vampire monster horror thriller sequel ("Red Lips Thirsting!"; "Pale Hands Caressing!"; in this sequel, the Count travels from Budapest to the Deep South of the U.S.!; this is the first Dracula movie that shows him transforming into a bat on screen) starring Louise Allbritton, Robert Paige, Evelyn Ankers, Frank Craven, J. Edward Bromberg, Samuel S. Hinds, Adeline De Walt Reynolds, Pat Moriarty, and Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as Count Dracula; he is credited on some posters as "Lon Chaney as Count Dracula", though his actual character name in this film is "Count Alucard", which of course is "Dracula" spelled backwards!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned it once before, and that was 19 years ago, and that example was paperbacked. A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the defects described below, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. The restoration was done really well, and the poster displays really well! Condition: good to very good. The poster was gel backed (see above). This particular poster had separation, creases, and tiny bits of paper loss on the folds, and some pinholes, tears, and small paper loss around the edges. It had a 3" tear near the middle of the left border and some creases and scuffs scattered through the poster. The poster was gel backed by a talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the above defects. The poster displays well (you can see slight signs of the above defects and restoration, but they are not very distracting at all), and it still completely looks and feels like an unrestored poster from the front (when you look at the back of the poster, you can see the restoration that was performed). Also, at some point after it was gel-backed, it was roughly handled, and there is now a 2" tear in the right border (no paper loss) that extends into the hair of the man at lower right. It can easily be mended by a professional or talented amateur (and we can send the poster to a restorer who will mend it for free and then send it on to the winning bidder). The new owner of this poster will have an extremely rare and cool poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
