An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Svengali (released in Germany as "Trilby"), the 1931 Archie Mayo hypnotism mind control romantic love triangle fantasy melodrama ("Based on the novel by George Louis Du Maurier") starring John Barrymore (in the title role as Svengali), Marian Marsh (as Trilby O'Farrell), Donald Crisp, Bramwell Fletcher, and Carmel Myers. Note that leading lady Marian Marsh was just 17 years old when this movie was made (John Barrymore had a habit of having extremely young female co-stars). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that 1931 lobby cards from this movie are extremely rare! We have only previously auctioned five lobby cards in all our years of auctioning, and only one of those was in the last 13 years. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. There are many small areas of surface paper loss scattered in the left border, with a lesser amount in the left of the top and bottom borders, and only a few of those areas extend into the red border. The card also has two tiny pinholes and a few small stains in the blank borders. Other than the above defects, which are only in blank borders or solid red background, the card is in nice condition.
