Had it not been for OPA and the stabilization program, we should have had run-away inflation. In other countries, run-away inflation has sown the seeds of tyranny and disorder. In this country, we have kept inflation under control. OPA has helped to make it possible for our fighting men to come home to a stable and prosperous economy.... Its thousands of employees and hundreds of thousands of volunteer workers in local price and rationing boards have worked faithfully for long hours, doing difficult jobs...") which includes excerpts from President Harry Truman's May 1st, 1945 OPA commendation statement. Note that the Office of Price Administration had the power to place ceilings on all prices except agricultural commodities, and to ration scarce supplies of other items, including tires, automobiles, shoes, nylon, sugar, gasoline, fuel oil, coffee, meats and processed foods. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that we were just consigned a wonderful collection of 59 war posters, most from World War II (which we are auctioning in 59 separate auctions)! Included in this collection are some posters we have never auctioned before, and some we have only auctioned once or twice before (sometimes only many years ago). This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain some or all of these historic posters, many of which have great images!). Condition: good to very good. The poster has some pencil writing at upper left in the blank area and an ink pad stamp at upper right (see our image). Other than some light fold and border wear it is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
