He acted primarily on the stage but had occasional film roles over many decades, and is widely considered one of the finest Shakespearean actors ever! Some of his movies include: Arthur (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Romeo & Juliet (1954), Becket (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), and Gandhi. He passed away in 2000 at the age of 96. Important Added Info: This cut album page has been personally autographed (signed) by John Gielgud! Our consignor sent pre-printed return address labels to the celebrities he wrote to, and after he received the package back from them, he cut the return address label from the envelope it was attached to (but only when he knew that the celebrity had filled it out themselves), because it meant that they had "autographed" the return address label (and also added their own address at that time).
