An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded English Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures approximately 41" x 85") (Learn More) Impulse, the 1922 Norval MacGregor silent romantic society melodrama ("A Story of Love and Adventure Adapted from Maud Woodruff Newell's novel 'Her Unknown Knight'"; a convoluted story of a woman whose husband deserted her, and she goes to live at a health spa to find a rich husband, but her husband who deserted her shows up to ruin her plans) starring Neva Gerber, Jack Dougherty, Golda Madden, Douglas Gerrard, Ashton Dearholt, Helen Gilmore, and Miss Gray. Note that the actor named Ashton Dearholt is an interesting footnote in movie history! He made 60 movies between 1916 and 1927, starring in some, but they are almost all forgettable. Dearholt wanted to become a producer in the movie business, and he kept trying to get Burroughs to let him make a Tarzan movie. Burroughs resisted, and in 1932, he signed a deal with MGM for a major Tarzan movie, and that seemed to end Dearholt's chance of making a deal, but in 1934, Dearholt found a beautiful young blonde that he left his wife for, and Dearholt's wife found consolation in the arms of Burroughs, who married her, and took custody of Dearholt's two children! Perhaps out of guilt, Burroughs signed a deal for Dearholt to make a Tarzan movie. Burroughs' sole involvement in the movie was putting up money and selling the rights, and Dearholt went to Guatemala (on the "Ashton-Dearholt Expedition"!), but the movie had all sorts of problems (Dearholt himself played the villain, and his new young girlfriend played the lead actress), and after it was partly completed, they quit filming and left Guatemala. They returned to the U.S. and managed to create a completed film from the footage they had shot, although it was far different from the original script. The movie did surprisingly well at first, but then MGM threatened theaters that showed the movie, and it got terrible U.S. distribution, although it did well overseas. Ultimately, none of the actors or crew were paid, and Dearholt never made another movie. But he remained good friends with Burroughs until his sudden death in 1942! Important Added Info: Note that this English three-sheet is very old, and has had considerable repairs, and it is partially folded and has much tape on the back, and it would make no sense to attempt to roll it, as the paper is EXTREMELY fragile, and rolling it would surely damage it further. Therefore we will send it in a large flat package that measures approximately 22" x 32". Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Note that this poster IS so fragile that it IS "falling to pieces", and it is in urgent need of expert professional restoration, and likely cannot be displayed without restoration and linenbacking, so please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its many defects, and are willing to pay to have them properly restored. Condition: fair to good. The poster is quite fragile and has tears and areas of paper loss on many foldlines. Someone took white conservation tape and put it on the back of several foldlines, and then partially folded the poster. We will send it to the winner of this auction in a large flat package .
