Date Sold 5/10/2015 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 16 2 3/4" x 3 1/2" photos of Betty Grable. Note that this Betty Grable photos have a wonderful provenance! They were consigned to us by the granddaughter of the lady who ran the Betty Grable fan club in the 1950s, and she developed a close friendship with Ms. Grable, and she was given a number of personally autographed items and unsigned photos, and we are auctioning this group of 16 of the 3x5 size ones in this set of auctions. They were surely taken in the 1940s and given to our consignor's grandmother by Miss Grable. Of course, Betty Grable was an actress from the 1930s to the 1950s, often appearing in romantic musicals. Some of her movie roles include: The Gay Divorcee, Follow the Fleet, Cavalcade, and I Wake Up Screaming. She is perhaps best remembered for her famous sexy legs, and one of her pin-up images, which was one of the absolute most popular ones displayed by soldiers during World War II (at one time, her legs were insured for $1,000,000 by Lloyds of London!).
