An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28 1/2" x 42" [72 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) The Great Air Robbery, the 1920 Jacques Jaccard silent airplane aviation adventure thriller ("A crashing sensation"; "An astounding staged drama of the clouds") starring Ormer Locklear (billed as "Featuring the Sky Dare-Devil Locklear") , Allan Forrest, Ray Ripley, Francelia Billington, and Carmen Phillips. Note that Ormer Locklear was the first of the great daredevils (like Evel Knievel). He specialized in both motorcycles and early airplanes. He performed many very daring airplane stunts including being the first man to transfer from one plane to another in mid-air. In 1916, Harry Houdini heard of his stunts, and together tried to perfect an escape while being driven on the back of a motorcycle! He made this movie, where he of course performed his own stunts, which was followed by "The Skywayman" the following year, another airplane movie. He performed a dangerous stunt during the making of the movie, and it involved flying straight down to the ground, and the people on the ground messed up, and he was tragically killed. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a set of 8 lobby cards and a glass slide from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this one-sheet! Also note that this one-sheet measures 28 1/2" x 42" [72 x 107 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. It had a small area of paper loss in the left of the bottom fold in the black above the word "IN". It had some tiny tears and creases on the rest of the folds. It had paper loss in the lower left blank border to the left of the bottom fold and a stain in the upper left blank border to the left of the top fold. It had a printing defect that resulted in lines running across the center of the poster, at a slight diagonal. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking.
