An Original Vintage Theatrical Swiss Lobby Card (LC; measures 15 3/4" x 19 3/4" [40 x 50 cm]) (Learn More)

French Cancan (also released in the U.S. as an edited version under the title "Jean Renoir's Only the French Can"), the 1955 Jean Renoir French/Italian Moulin Rouge romantic musical dance comedy (about a theater producer who turns a maid into a star at the famous French musical revue, Moulin Rouge) starring Jean Gabin, Francoise Arnoul, Maria Felix, Edith Piaf, Patachou, Andre Claveau, Jean Raymond, and Franco Pastorino

Important Added Info: Note that this Swiss lobby card measures 15 3/4" x 19 3/4" [40 x 50 cm]. Also note that this Swiss lobby card was made by the distributor creating a set of identical stiff board printed backings with printed information about the movie, with a blank space for a still, and then they would attach a number of original French stills to those boards, thus creating a set of Swiss lobby cards. Note that the board has metal grommets inserted into each corner, to make displaying of this Swiss lobby card far easier.

Note that this item (and others we are auctioning in this set of auctions) come to us from the estate of Lee Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away last year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca.
